Protection and planning for every stage of life

I simplify the options, explain the trade-offs in plain language, and build a plan around your goals and budget.

Life InsuranceMoney for your family if you pass away, paid tax-free.4 options explained

Term Life Insurance

Best for: Young families, mortgages, debts

Covers you for a set period, such as 10, 20 or 30 years. It is the most affordable way to get a large amount of coverage. If you pass away during the term, your family receives a tax-free payment. There is no savings or cash value.

Whole Life Insurance

Best for: Lifelong protection and leaving a legacy

Covers you for your whole life, usually with fixed payments. Part of what you pay builds a guaranteed cash value you can borrow against later. Participating policies may also earn dividends, which are not guaranteed.

Universal Life Insurance

Best for: Flexible, long-term planning

Permanent coverage paired with a savings account inside the policy. You can adjust how much you pay (within limits), and the savings grow tax-sheltered. It rewards people who want both protection and flexibility.

No-Medical & Simplified Issue

Best for: Quick approval or health concerns

Coverage you can get by answering a few health questions, with no medical exam or blood test. Approval is fast. Premiums are usually a bit higher and coverage amounts lower than fully underwritten plans.

Critical Illness & DisabilityProtection while you are alive, if illness or injury strikes.3 options explained

Critical Illness Insurance

Best for: Anyone who couldn't afford time off to recover

Pays you a one-time, tax-free lump sum if you are diagnosed with a covered illness such as cancer, heart attack or stroke and survive a short waiting period. You can use the money for anything: bills, treatment or rest.

Disability Insurance

Best for: Self-employed people and anyone relying on a paycheque

Replaces part of your income every month if illness or injury stops you from working. You choose how long you wait before payments start and how long they last.

Long-Term Care Insurance

Best for: Planning ahead for later in life

Helps pay for care at home or in a care facility if you can no longer manage everyday activities on your own, such as bathing or dressing. It protects your savings and eases the load on family.

Savings & RetirementRegistered plans through segregated funds and annuities from Canadian insurers.6 options explained

TFSA (Tax-Free Savings Account)

Best for: Any savings goal, short or long term

Your money grows tax-free and you pay no tax when you take it out. You can withdraw any time, and the amount you take out is added back to your room the next year. Contribution room builds every year from age 18.

RRSP (Registered Retirement Savings Plan)

Best for: Retirement savings and lowering your taxes today

What you put in reduces your taxable income now, and it grows tax-deferred until you withdraw it, usually in retirement when your tax rate may be lower. It can also help fund a first home or your education.

RESP (Registered Education Savings Plan)

Best for: Parents and grandparents saving for school

Saves for a child's college, university or trade school. The government adds 20% on the first $2,500 you put in each year, up to $500 a year and $7,200 in total per child, and savings grow tax-deferred.

FHSA (First Home Savings Account)

Best for: First-time home buyers

Combines the best of an RRSP and a TFSA. Contributions are tax-deductible, and withdrawals for your first home are tax-free. You can save up to $8,000 a year, to a lifetime total of $40,000.

Segregated Funds

Best for: Investors who want growth with a safety net

Investment funds offered by insurance companies that include guarantees: 75% to 100% of your deposits are protected at maturity or at death. They can pay directly to your beneficiaries and may offer creditor protection.

Annuities

Best for: Retirees who want a steady paycheque

Turn part of your savings into a guaranteed income for life or for a set number of years. You know exactly what you will receive each month, no matter how the markets perform.

Business ProtectionKeep your company and your team secure through the unexpected.4 options explained

Key Person Insurance

Best for: Businesses that depend on one or two people

Pays the business if an owner or top employee dies or becomes seriously ill, so it can cover lost revenue, repay loans or hire and train a replacement.

Buy-Sell (Shareholder) Insurance

Best for: Businesses with partners or shareholders

Provides the money for surviving owners to buy the shares of a partner who dies, so the business stays with the people running it and the family receives fair value.

Business Overhead Expense Insurance

Best for: Owners whose business can't run without them

Covers fixed operating costs such as rent, utilities, loan payments and staff salaries if you are disabled and cannot work, so the business stays open while you recover.

Group Health & Dental Benefits

Best for: Employers who want to attract and keep good staff

Health, dental, vision and prescription coverage for your employees and their families. Flexible plans work even for very small teams, and premiums are generally a business expense.

Estate & Final ExpensePass on what you've built and spare your family the costs.4 options explained

Final Expense Insurance

Best for: Covering funeral and end-of-life costs

A smaller permanent policy designed to pay for funeral, burial and final bills so your family isn't left with them. Applying is simple, often with just a few health questions.

Estate Protection

Best for: Leaving property, investments or a cottage to heirs

When you pass away, taxes can be due on things like investments, a cottage or an RRSP. Permanent life insurance can pay that tax bill, so your family keeps what you meant to leave them.

Beneficiary Planning

Best for: Anyone with insurance or investments

Naming beneficiaries on your life insurance and segregated funds means the money goes directly to them, outside your estate. That is usually faster and more private than waiting for probate.

Charitable Giving

Best for: Leaving a gift to a church or cause you love

Life insurance can turn modest payments into a meaningful future gift to a church, charity or cause you care about, and the donation can bring tax benefits for you or your estate.

Travel & HealthCoverage for trips abroad, visiting family and everyday care.4 options explained

Travel Medical Insurance

Best for: Anyone travelling outside their home province or Canada

Pays for emergency medical care, hospital stays and getting you home if you get sick or injured while travelling. Provincial health plans cover very little outside your province.

Visitors to Canada & Super Visa

Best for: Parents, grandparents and relatives visiting Canada

Covers emergency medical costs for visitors, who are not covered by provincial health care. Super Visa plans are built to meet the government's insurance requirements for parents and grandparents.

Trip Cancellation & Interruption

Best for: Prepaid trips and family travel

Reimburses prepaid, non-refundable costs if you have to cancel or cut a trip short for a covered reason, such as illness or a family emergency.

Personal Health & Dental

Best for: Self-employed people or anyone without a work plan

Covers prescriptions, dental, vision and services like physiotherapy or massage therapy. It is ideal if you are self-employed, between jobs or retiring from a workplace plan.
